Alyson Borycki Studio
Alyson Borycki is a Saskatoon-based artist creating dynamic and playful abstract paintings inspired by her search for the beauty in imperfection. Working with joyful colour palettes, acrylic layers, and the interplay between shapes and lines, she builds compositions that hold both tension and harmony at once, which plays out directly in her visual language. The juxtaposition of looser, organic shapes with more structured lines and geometry is central to Alyson’s practice — a way of exploring the idea that we all hold many different, sometimes opposite, attributes that can exist beautifully and uniquely, all at the same time. It is this feeling of push and pull that she continues to chase: the messy alongside the precise, the soft next to the sharp, the certain living comfortably beside the unknown. Inspired by both natural and urban environments, Alyson’s work aims to communicate a sense of curiosity, growth, and momentum, balanced with an equally present feeling of contentment and grounding. “My work is an ongoing act of becoming. Each piece is a practice in trusting intuition and giving myself permission to be exactly as weird, authentic, and complicated as I actually am. I envision a world where we no longer doubt ourselves for being messy and imperfect, because we finally understand that is where the real beauty lives.” Alyson currently works out of her home studio in Saskatoon, SK.
