Rock Candy Decor

I’m not “new” to the Maker Scene, it’s been a good 10 years since I put my creations out there. In 2009 I lost my father and crafting/markets were what we did together. When I lost him part of my grief was the loss of any desire to create for many many years.

During that time my life took a total shift and I found Yoga. My entrepreneurial spirit was still strong and after many years of teaching I ended up following my heart and created a fitness studio called The Yoga Barre.

4 years into operation, 2020 came along and I think we all know how that’s affected everyone. For me personally my business has been closed for most of 2020 and remains closed as of the date of this application.

During these closures I had a lot of time that I didn’t normally have and I found myself feeling really down. I got back into making as a way to focus on something positive to keep my mind away from all the stress and heaviness I have been feeling. After 10+ years I fell in love with creating again and now it’s something I do every day to centre myself.

My creations and my bead wrap style are completely my own. I am self taught and I just manipulate the wire to what feels right in that moment. I don’t know anyone who does my wood hanging pieces like I do so I believe they are truly unique. Crystals are a big part of my you’re and I always have at least one to two on me at all times (right now it’s rose quartz for a reminder to love myself and smoky Quartz to remind me to keep calm) so they are a medium that I am very knowledgeable of and passionate about.

I buy all my pieces (wire, beads, crystals) locally to support other small businesses in Manitoba. My sticks are picked off my moms property and I never harm nature for these sticks. (I appreciate the weathered aesthetic)

I will be applying for Baby Bird because these are completely new designs to what I did over 10 years ago and I’m not sure how my products will go outside of my friends buying them. I also don’t have a lot of expendable income at the moment and I will need to create a beautiful booth to showcase my creations.

That said, I’m really curious to see how they are received and I love the vibes of this market! Being in Third + Bird would be such a highlight for me personally!

So hopefully me and my products will be a good fit and we can make some wonderful vibes together this Spring!
