Northern Naturals products are made by me, my husband, Clinton and my father, Dave. We live at Clearwater Lake near The Pas, Manitoba. My father spends most the year at his cabin located on the edge of Carswell Lake north of Lynn Lake, Manitoba.
My father was born and raised in the northern Manitoba boreal forest and spent all of his working career there in many areas of forest management. He spent his childhood exploring lakes and beaches, camping, picking berries, fishing, hunting and trapping. He has shared his love of the northern forest and knowledge with his family and we are proud to work with him.
We spend most of our free time outside in nature. We love to explore the forest and collect the materials we use to make our products. We have been collecting and creating products for 28 years mostly as a family hobby.
We started distilling essential oils and hydrosols 3 years ago and are continually learning about the benefits of these fantastic products. The distillation idea came to us after years of making fresh Balsam Fir Christmas wreaths in our garage. The fragrance of the branches and needles fills our space and smells so fabulous we wanted to find a way to bottle it. We now have 2 small distillers that we use to make small batches of Balsam Fir, Black Spruce, Cedar, Tamarack, Jack Pine, Rose Hip and Plantain essential oils and hydrosols. The forest materials we use to create our products are sustainably harvested; we never harm the trees or the plants.
